Hanging Out In The Main Plaza

Party like the locals and start your night off in the main square where you can have few drinks before you go party. There are several little shops around the park that sell cold beers and bottles of liquor. It is legal to drink in park, so you will see many people hanging out and sharing bottles.

Two bars close to the main square are Doggy Style and La Havana – both located on the 2nd floor in the Camino Real shopping center. This little shopping center is less than a block away from the park. Ask anyone in the area and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

La Isla

On Fridays and Saturdays, if you are looking for a big party in San Gil, La Isla is the main nightclub district in the town. It is located about 8 minutes cab ride away from Sam’s VIP Hostel. A taxi should run you about $4000COP or ($2USD) from the square. Just tell the taxi driver that you want to go to La Isla.

La Isla is basically a strip mall and a gas-station with a bunch of restaurants and clubs.

There are 3 main clubs in La Isla – El Rodeo, One Shot, and Caña Brava. El Rodeo is the largest of the three.

One Shot is the smallest of the clubs but it is where you will find the younger crowd. Expect to hear cross-over (mixed) music, reggaeton, salsa, bachata, hip-hop, and reggae.
